Wildflowers of the Central Coast
Every Spring, the hills and roadsides of the Central Coast are ablaze with countless wildflowers.
California Poppies, Lupines, wild Sweet Peas are only a few. There are wildflowers who love a
sandy, salty beach and those who prefer a dark and damp redwood canyon. Some love a
sunny coastal bluff. Each ecological niche presents its glory.
We invite all visitors to send pictures of the flowers they find, identification is nice, but optional.
(Please keep pics at 800 x 600 pixels or smaller.) Enjoy!
We start, of course, with our State
flower, the California Poppy. .
Beach primrose.
Wildflowers bloom in a progression, we will update this page weekly. You will see what is in
bloom. The first four were taken by Charles MacKinnon in early March in
San Simeon.
